Keyes Family Legacy 1.6

Marilee and Mitchell made a cute kid. Anise spends a lot of time smiling. I got her an art table since she has the creative aspiration.

I also did a little expanding on the lot. We needed a little more space, so I added a second floor to one of the buildings, and did some rearranging. I got Anise a bed, too. First floor living room:

Second floor:

And the bedroom/bathroom:

Here’s Anise playing on the neighborhood play place. She’s so cute!

The family has some bonding time together on the couch.

Marilee is such a good mom!

She and Mitchell both love spending time with Anise. Here she is encouraging her to work on her art.

Anise definitely takes after Mitchell.

They were even eating in sync.

Days pass by quickly with a little girl to take care of, but Mitchell and Marilee still take time to talk together. Mitchell is very enthused about something here, I don’t remember what.

Soon, it’s Marilee’s birthday! She’s the only one who can be trusted to cook without setting the house on fire, so she has to make her own birthday cake.

Mitchell sings to Marilee while she’s baking her cake.

They wait until Anise gets home from school to light the birthday candles. No party this time, just the family hanging out together.

Marilee makes a wish while Mitchell and Anise cheer.

The spinning and sparkles seems to disturb Anise. Mitchell’s ignoring the whole situation.

Marilee looks very pleased with herself. Being an adult suits her.

While Anise plays, Mitchell and Marilee celebrate privately with a little woohoo.

Marilee gets a makeover in honor of her birthday, and then she and Anise eat cake together.

The next day, Marilee has a hunch, so she takes a pregnancy test. Baby number two is on the way!

And here come Marilee’s cranky faces again. She really doesn’t like being pregnant. Don’t worry Marilee, this is the last one. Probably.

As soon as Mitchell gets home from work, Marilee announces her big news. Mitchell is shocked, to say the least.

He gets over it quickly and looks excited.

On the other end of the challenge, Marilee’s garden is flourishing. She manages to get a cowberry off one of her spliced plants.

Marilee plants the strange looking berry.

Mitchell knows that the news about her new sibling might upset Anise, so he makes sure to spend some extra time with her. He works on the computer while she draws yet another picture.

Over dinner, Marilee breaks the big news about the baby to Anise. Turns out she’s enthusiastic about the idea.

Marilee spends nearly all her time working on the garden, spending time with Anise, or sleeping. Her hard work is definitely paying off, though.

Talking to the cow plant is just fun, though.

Marilee helps Anise with her homework since Mitchell’s work schedule keeps him away when Anise gets home from school. She has a B, now.

Aw! Anise feels the little nooboo kicking!

I didn’t plan it this way, but the bigger Marilee’s stomach gets, the bigger the cow plant gets. When she hits the third trimester, the cow plant is full grown and hungry! I don’t want it to eat anyone or die yet, so I make sure Marilee feeds it on a regular basis.

They are becoming fast friends, it seems.

Very quickly, Marilee is going into labor. I totally forgot to take pictures until I sent her off to the hospital.

Supposedly Mitchell was going with her, but he walked off the lot in the opposite direction that Marilee did. I don’t know what that was about.

Welcome to the world, little Bluebell. It’s another girl!

Mitchell waits to have his pre parental freak out until they come back from the hospital. What a weirdo.

I move Anise’s bed to the second floor of the living space so there’s room for the crib. I also didn’t want nooboo Bluebell waking her up with her screams in the night. (Yes, she’s named after another plant. A, B, what’s the next baby’s name going to start with?!)

Mitchell gets over his panic and cuddles Bluebell while Marilee falls into bed, exhausted.

He’s very sweet with the baby. And to think I didn’t want Marilee to marry him!

Until next time!

Keyes Family Legacy 1.5

Marilee greets you today with a cranky face. Pregnancy is not sitting well with her, clearly.

Morning sickness has hit, and she’s finding her camping bed rather uncomfortable. This makes for an unhappy Marilee. This face is so sad!

She hasn’t gotten a chance to tell Mitchell about the pregnancy yet, but I try to get him to help out around the house anyway.

He’s lazy, so I had to tell him to pick the dishes up literally five times before he would wash them. He better get over this quick. With Marilee growing a new person, he’s going to be helping out whether he wants to or not.

Marilee happily tells Mitchell the big news.

He’s thrilled and leans in to feel her baby bump.

Aw. The look on Mitchell’s face is so sweet. He’s just as excited as Marilee is!

Mitchell decides his baby might need to eat some food that wasn’t made on the girll, so he whips up some BLTS. They have some veggies, at least.

Marilee appreciates the effort and dives right in to her sandwhich.

Marilee knows she’s got to stay healthy for the nooboo coming. She goes for a jog around the neighborhood.

Walking through a car isn’t good for anybody, though. I can’t leave these two alone for a minute.

Up until now, Marilee has been taking care of all the household repairs. She’s tired and has to pee constantly in addition to working on her garden now, so Mitchell lends a hand by fixing the computer. I hope he doesn’t electrocute himself.

After his success, the couple decides to throw a party for the neighbors at their home. Marilee still needs to keep in touch with the community and they’ll have less free time once the baby comes.

Everyone seems to have a good time, especially Marilee. Her dance moves are something special.

Mitchell takes the opportunity to try out some of his new material on the guests.

I don’t know if they liked it or not, but he cracked himself up.

Marilee makes sure she gets to spend some time with Bella during the party. She invites Bella to come back to the house while Mitchell is at work the next day. Since she is due to go into labor, she figures she might want some company.

Bella’s had two nooboos of her own, so she happily agrees to keep Marilee company.

The next morning is off to a rough start. The toilet and the shower both break first thing.

I set Mitchell to work fixing them, but there’s a bathroom emergency taking place outside.

Sorry, Marilee. Peeing yourself isn’t exactly fun. Not to mention the dirty dishes everywhere from the party last night.

I felt pretty bad for that. I’m a bad sim mommy 😦 While she was cleaning up, I decided to buy Marilee and Mitchell a new bed to make up for it. I picked it out more for Marilee than Mitchell. I figured a sim who loves the outdoor would appreciate the aesthetics here. I also got a bassinet.

Mitchell has to head to work, but Bella shows up to keep Marilee company.

Uh oh. That looked like a contraction.

Marilee thinks so too. Bella does her best to distract her until it’s go time. She encourages Marilee to take deep breaths.

Soon it’s time to head to the bassinet.

One more deep breath and…

Welcome to the world, Anise Keyes. I know all sim babies look alike, but she’s still cute.

Marilee is completely exhausted and crashes into bed.

When Mitchell arrives home from work, he finds Marilee fast asleep. He takes a moment to meet his daughter.

They are both very attentive parents. I didn’t take many pictures of the baby because, let’s be real here, it’s pretty boring. I thought this one of Marilee and Anise was sweet though.

Marilee and Mitchell know it’s important to take time for their relationship with a new baby around, even if it’s just to flirt over leftovers.

The next couple of days are full of baby care. Not much else gets done. I realized that it was Mitchell’s birthday, though. I hate when my sims get sad because they don’t have a birthday cake. I upgrade the kitchen just so Marilee can make him a cake.

It’s not much, but it’s functional. This is the first time Marilee’s used the oven, so let’s see how this goes.

Success! No fire AND a cake!

Mitchell thinks very hard about what he wants to wish for.

Marilee sings in the background. The expression these two make are just too funny sometimes.

With a spin and a sparkle, Mitchell becomes an adult. I’m not sure why he looks so surprised.

I give him a makeover to go with his more mature age. I think he looks very handsome.

Before it seems possible, it’s time for little Anise to grow up. I send Marilee over to her bassinet, but then…

This is what I get for letting you cook, Mitchell.

I manage to calm everyone down and get Marilee to come back on the lot. She ran off when the fire started. It’s back to the bassinet for Anise’s birthday!

More sparkles and then there she is.

Anise (named after the plant, since her mother is a gardener..) rolled neat and Artistic Prodigy. This is her after her makeover. She has apparently inherited her father’s habit of not opening her eyes for pictures.

I think she looks more like Mitchell than Marilee right now, but time will tell.

Mitchell takes some time to help Anise with her homework before she has to go to school tomorrow.

Anise has a smile on her face, even while doing her homework. I wonder if she knows that could potentially be the future of the Keyes Legacy.

That’s all for this chapter! See you all next time.

Keyes Family Legacy 1.4

We’re back for another installment in the lives of Marilee and Mitchell. When we last left them, they had just gotten married.

They look pretty happy together. Aw, cute. Since I never got around to having them do much more than kiss a couple times before the wedding, I figured now would be a good time to take advantage of the boost in fun woohoo gives a sim.

These two definitely aren’t complaining. Mitchell decides to make a move.

Marilee’s expression clearly says that she thinks he’s a giant dork, but cute too.

She spares Mitchell any more awkward moves and suggests they move things along.

He is more than happy to oblige. The hearts float above the bed and the blissful new couple.

The next day life is back to the usual grind. That now includes cleaning for two people rather than one.

Mitchell needs a computer for his job in the entertainment career (to write jokes) so after he comes home from work the next day, I scrounge up their money and buy them a computer. Yes, it’s weird that they have a computer but no stove or couch, but that’s just the way it is.

Marilee’s first priority is still her garden, and she tends it every day.

Mitchell is a little on the chubby side, and since he’s lazy, getting him to exercise is almost impossible. He buys a insta-lean potion and drinks it in one swallow.

He looks pretty happy, but I don’t see any physical changes. I decide to wait awhile and see if anything happens.

Later in the day, Mitchell tells jokes at his new microphone. He’s definitely slimmed down.

He also makes completely hilarious faces while doing comedy routines.

I mean seriously, look at this ham. He’s clearly meant to become a comedian. If the faces weren’t enough proof, he’s already on level four of the entertainment career.

Marilee continues working at home on her garden and making plans for the community park. She takes time to hang out with her buddy Bella, though.

They have more in common that ever, and love spending time together. BFFs for sure.

It’s a good thing Marilee has Bella for a friend. She’s started talking to her plants, so most of the neighbors think she’s pretty strange.

In addition to working on her garden, I have been making Marilee work on her handiness skill by fixing and updating all of the family’s appliances. No matter what I have her working on, she’s thinking about babies, though.

And it’s not just her. I’ve never had two sims roll so many wishes to “try for baby” before. My original plan didn’t call for any babies until they both became adults, but they don’t seem to agree with me. They chat eagerly about the possibilities.

I’m reluctantly getting on board with their plan to start a family sooner than anticipated, but they need a little more space before it’s doable. Luckily, Marilee’s garden is now producing very well and selling for more money every day. We have enough for a small expansion. Here we have the bedroom and bathroom.

I’m planning to keep the buildings the same general shape when I make the park, so it’s not exactly a traditional house. A short distance away from the bed/bath combination, there’s a living area.

They still don’t have much, but I like the way the lot is shaping up. The buildings kind of remind me of the ones you find in state parks around me.

Mitchell knows more promotions are going to be necessary if he’s going to support his family, so he works at the computer before going to work for the day.

Shortly after Mitchell leaves for work, Marilee stops short with a shocked expression on her face. You’d like a sim who wanted a baby so much wouldn’t look so surprised to be pregnant.

Marilee smiles happily as she tends to her garden. She’s got a tiny baby bump, it’s so cute.

I’ll leave you with Marilee in her favorite place, contemplating the future of her family and this town she loves. Now, what should they name the baby?

Keyes Family Legacy 1.3

Keyes Legacy 1.3

It’s the start of a new day in Newcrest. Before I can decide how Marilee will spend her day, Mitchell calls her and asks her on a date! She goes off but they ended up at a lot in Oasis Springs. The #buildnewcrest legacy challenge requires that the legacy family remain in Newcrest for the entirety of the challenge. Oops. I cancelled their date and had Marilee ask Mitchell on another date, and sent them back to Newcrest. Once that fiasco was finished, they got down to the business of talking and flirting.

They are pretty cute together. They spontaneously embrace and flirt, although for some reason their relationship status has gone from “romantic interest” to “just friends”. Maybe it was from cancelling their date?

Mitchell, why are you eating Marilee’s hair? Are you not eating well at home?

They move over to a bench to continue chatting, and before I know it, Marilee is embarrassed. She even covers her face with her hands. There’s a lot of emotion going on during this date, I guess.

They save the night by sharing a snack back at Marilee’s tiny shack.

Mitchell can;t help himself and keeps complimenting Marilee. He might be growing on me just a little.

Before the date is even officially over, Marilee falls asleep. The next morning, she contemplates how last evening went. She’s definitely got feelings for Mitchell, and he seems to feel the same. But how can she know for sure?

She goes fishing to gather her thoughts as well as her courage before calling Mitchell back over to her house.

As a pretense, she tells Mitchell about her new chess table, which will eventually staying in the community park for everyone to enjoy.

They play a game of chess together, but Marilee clearly has other things on her mind.

She looks up at him shyly.

That is a look of infatuation if I’ve ever seen one. All right Marilee, I get the idea. You like Mitchell. Now what are you going to do about it?

Aww. That’ll work!

Wouldn’t it be nice if floating hearts told you that someone liked you back in real life?

Marilee doesn’t waste any time and asks Mitchell to be her boyfriend. He happily agrees.

Mitchell runs off the work and Marilee settles down to ponder over the chess board. She has a garden to tend, after all. Even love can’t get in the way of that. She smiles away while she plays.

After tending her garden, she goes to the local picnic area looking for leftovers. Bella shows up in her formal wear to chat.

Marilee is excited and chatters away to Bella about Mitchell and her garden and her big plans for turning Newcrest into a bustling city. Bella looks concerned though, and asks Marilee if she’s discussed her plans for the city with Mitchell. Building Newcrest is going to be a generations long process, and any children Marilee has will have to be involved. By extension, that means her future husband and the father of her children will have to be as well.

Marilee realizes that Bella has a great point. She thanks her for her advice and knows that she will have to have a serious talk with Mitchell before their relationship progresses any further.

Marilee carefully plans out what she wants to say to Mitchell and then invites him over to her house the next day. They head to the benches nearby that overlook the water.

She takes Mitchell’s hands in her own and carefully begins to explain her plans for Newcrest. She will build a beautiful community park complete with a garden for the future residents of Newcrest to enjoy.

He’s a little surprised, but listens to everything she has to say carefully. As she lays out her plans, he gets more excited.

At last, Marilee finishes talking. Mitchell tells her that he supports her one hundred percent. Despite his lazy nature, he promises to support everything she wants to do.

That was exactly the response Marilee was hoping for. She can’t help herself and gets down on one knee.

Mitchell is once again confused and then excited.

He says yes to her proposal, of course. Who could say no to those green eyes?

Marilee tells him that she needs a few days to get her garden further along before they can get married. She wants to make sure that her life goals don’t get sidetracked when he moves in. He understands and continues to be very excited.

Mitchell walks off somewhat abruptly, but Marilee doesn’t mind. Her smile says it all.

She spends the next few days working very hard on her garden.

When she needs a break, she goes fishing for more fertilizer.

She also runs around the neighborhood looking for collectibles to sell. She gets some exercise in at the same time.

Finally, Marilee realizes that her garden is flourishing, and more importantly, she can’t wait to start her life with Mitchell. He comes over and they take a selfie to commemorate their wedding day.

There’s no extra money to spare, so Marilee and Mitchell decide to have a quiet ceremony together in the very neighborhood their descendants will build. Look at the love on their faces. Aww.

Vows are exchanged, and the first kiss of their married lives occurs. Actually now that I think about it, it’s only their second kiss ever. Oops.

Mitchell and Marilee are happily married. I decide it will make me happy to give them makeovers to mark this new life, and make enough room in their house for a double bed. Mitchell is difficult and I have a hard time taking his picture with his eyes open.

I finally succeed, though. I discovered that the tattoo on his arm is a pin up girl. Gross. But hey, I don’t have to marry him, so whatever. I also give him a job in the entertainment career since he wants to be a joke star.

Marilee gets a new hairdo and a sunny yellow shirt.

Their house grows only slightly, but there’s enough room for a double bed and the bathroom has it’s own door now.

This is where we shall leave you. I wonder what our new couple will get up to next time? Marilee isn’t telling.

Keyes Family Legacy 1.2

Installment number two of the Keyes #buildnewcrest legacy has arrived! It’s a new day in New Crest and Marilee is excited to explore the neighborhood and collect more plants for her budding garden.

Before she gets too far, Marilee realizes she’s pretty hungry. She decides to try her hand at fishing.

Unfortunately, she doesn’t manage to catch anything in like three hours of fishing, so I give up and direct her to one of the local picnic tables, hoping to find some leftovers. She finds some food and this guy to chat with.

They don’t seem to have much in common, so after Marilee eats, I send her collecting. She’s very low on cash and is still missing several necessities from her tiny home.

She finds some frogs that I breed and then sell, and she also collects some more plants for her garden. She goes home and her garden of one plant becomes five.

Later on, Marilee meets this fellow. His name is Mitchell Kalani. He reminds me of the jerky boys I knew in high school, so I don’t pay him much attention at this point. As you’ll see soon, Marilee didn’t have the same reaction.

This is a Legacy challenge, after all, so Marilee starts looking for a potential spouse. She runs into Maxwell Farrell. They have the loves the outdoors trait in common, which I figured might come in handy, what with living on the giant mostly empty lot. He is an adult though, so he’d end up dying a lot sooner than Marilee. Ah, decisions, decisions…

After another day spent collecting plants, rocks, and frogs, Marilee has enough money to buy a shower, a fridge, and some planter boxes. Washing a sims hands repeatedly only gets them so clean, and Marilee eagerly jumps in the shower.

Marilee spends the rest of this chapter completely broke, and eating leftover hot dogs and food she finds around the neighborhood. If I’m not going to have her get a job, we might need to find her a spouse sooner rather than later. On that note, she goes back out into the world to meet more potential mates. Instead, she meets Bella Goth, out for an evening run. Marilee and Bella get on surprisingly well, with little prompting from me. I kind of like them as friends.

The next morning, Marilee gets a want to get to know Mitchell better. I figure, why not, and call him over to hang out.

The game informs me that Mitchell is “already here”, which is a stretch. I find him on the other side of the neighborhood. Marilee goes over for a chat.

She is very enthusiastic about their conversation, if her facial expression is any indication. Their friendship bar is moving up quickly, too.

After chatting for a bit, Mitchell walks away. Marilee wants to talk to him, though, so she chases him across the grass. I tried to get a picture of this, because I’ve never had a sim chase someone like this, but only managed the back of their heads.

Sadly for Marilee, Mitchell escapes. I was a little relieved myself. I’m still not sure I like him as a spouse option for her. I spot Maxwell and send her over to talk to him instead.

Her new friend Bella shows up again. Marilee is glad to see her.

She eagerly begins to tell Bella about the other sims she’s met, especially the boys. She’s in need of some advice. Should she pursue the more mature Maxwell or Mitchell, with his sparkling personality?

All Bella can do is tell her to follow her heart. Since I’m actually the one in charge here, I decide maybe I should listen to Bella’s advice too. Maybe Mitchell will grow on me? Meh

After working on her garden, I let Marilee call Mitchell.

Once again, he is supposedly already here. Lies, all lies, I say. I locate him, once again way across the neighborhood, and send Marilee over.

They are getting along swimmingly, and have reach good friend status. I decide to have Marilee flirt and see what happens. He’s flattered and then can’t seem to stop staring at her boobs.

Gross? But good, I guess.

I’ll leave you with a shot of Marilee’s growing garden. I haven’t been neglecting it, really, I just forget to take pictures.

Keyes Family Legacy Ch 1.1

Let’s start by meeting our founder, Marilee Keyes. She is a young adult, and just moved to the town of Newcrest. According to the steps of the #buildnewcrest legacy challenge, her goal is to build a park for the sims of Newcrest to enjoy. She is also required to complete the freelance botanist aspiration before we can move on to the task for the second generation. I decided to give her the traits Love the Outdoors, Loner, and Family Oriented. She also has whatever trait goes alone with selecting her aspiration- collector, maybe? I don’t remember. Anyway…this is Marilee!

I chose one of the largest lots for her to move on to, mostly because this is going to become the community park and I wanted some space to play with.

This particular version of the legacy challenge doesn’t actually require that you start with almost no money, but it didn’t feel quite like a legacy challenge to me without my founder starting out poor. I bought her the knight of the octagon table statue, like you do in the original legacy challenge to make Marilee’s life a little harder.

Here they are sizing each other up. The knight is trying to intimidate Marilee out of her dream of building Newcrest, but she is not having any of it. She faces him down and wins their staring match.

After buying her land and the knight, Marilee ended up with about 3100 simolians to spend on her “house”. I know this is more than in the traditional challenge, but I decided it was acceptable. I built her a small house, trying to keep with the park theme because I hope to turn any home/building she has into park items later.

I’m not sure Marilee is impressed, but soon she’ll be so busy she won’t care.

Since Marilee is going to have to grow lots of plants for her aspiration, I sent her around the neighborhood to check out some of the plants. I only found one plant ready to be harvested, but it was a nice tour for her and for me. I’ve never played in Newcrest before, so I’m not familiar with what grows where yet. Marliee and I will just have to learn together.

I also had her collect a few items because she’s pretty short on cash right now. I’m not sure if I want her to get a job or not, so any little bit of money will be helpful.

After running around, I spot Bob Pancakes cooking on a grill. That meant free food and a chance to meet the sims that Marilee and her descendants will be building the town for. Win/win.

Shortly after Marilee sat down, some more sims showed up. Introductions took place all around.

Marliee decides to keep moving, and finds another potential friend around the corner. No spouse options that I like yet, but that’s okay.

Just as I sent Marilee back to her house to look for more plants, this lady sim from earlier in the day showed up at her house. I don’t remember her name, sorry. If she becomes a friend, I’ll find out for a later update.

I figure that our founder better try to find out what’s important to the sims of Newcrest, so she can build accordingly. What better way to get to know what people are thinking than cloudgazing together?

Marilee keeps the information she learns to herself, but her friend seems pretty excited to talk.

Before it gets too late, I have Marilee plant the one flower she managed to find today. It’s the start of what will be a beautiful garden.

The rest of the day passes by uneventfully and soon Marilee settles into bed.

Marilee falls asleep right away. She will need all the sleep she can get as the founder of a legacy that has to build a town. Sleep well, our little founder, until next time…

Keyes Family Legacy

Hello and welcome to my second attempt at documenting my journey through a sims legacy. I’m going to be playing The Sims 4, and my challenge is going to be a slight alteration on the #buildnewcrest legacy challenge. For full rules and to find out more about the inventor of this particular challenge, please visit SimplyVanillaSim’s blog.

I’m not going to follow all the rules exactly, mostly because I’ll make myself crazy. I plan to wait to select my heir until the kids in a generation are teenagers. Only girl kids will be able to inherit. That’s just my personal preference.

I won’t be following a point system or anything like that. I’m doing this for fun and as a stress relieving activity from school/work. I hope you enjoy reading as I write!
